About this event

Keeping local and cloud environments in sync is really challenging. This is made even more complicated when the technology stack in each environment is different. But why not put the developer experience at the center, not the infrastructure?

Developers often struggle with configuration drift between environments, made more complex by the differences in the tech stack between environments (e.g. Docker Compose for local development, Helm to deploy to Kubernetes). In this talk we will discuss main issues with an infrastructure centric setup which leads to infrastructural complexity, high cognitive load and bottlenecks. As an alternative, we will present Score, a new open source project enabling one git-based workflow for all kind of platforms.

The talk will cover in detail:

- Main issues with an infrastructure centric setup: infrastructural complexity, high cognitive load, bottlenecks, etc.

- Why it is time to shift to a developer and workload centric configuration standard which ensures standardization across all kind of environments in a reusable way

- How Score lowers cognitive load and can help to improve the developer experience by enabling one git-based workflow for all kind of platforms
