TALK 1: Cloud Native and (Big) Data is colliding

“Cloud Native and (Big) Data is colliding” by Tom Perry @ STARK Group and Rasmus Steiniche @ Neurospace

In this talk you discover how the Cloud Native and (Big) Data worlds are colliding together with Tom and Rasmus.

The Cloud Native world have long worked with distributed systems such as micro services and worked on self services in the platform engineering teams.

Now the Data world is ready to do the same with the modern data stack which embraces ephemeral distributed compute, object storage, and self service, there are even parallels to Domain Driven Design.

Now we are seeing the data technologies collide with Cloud Native tech where the new data orchastrators such as Dagster utilizes containers natively and run directly on Kubernetes.

We will give you an introduction to the data world and give some direct examples with how STARK is building their modern data stack.

Tom Perry is Lead Data and Analytics Architect @ STARK Group and have worked with (Big) Data for 15+ years.

Rasmus Steiniche is the CEO @ Neurospace and have worked with DevOps / Cloud Native for 10+ years and (Big) Data for the last 6 years.

TALK 2: Data-driven eCommerce: The Boozt data adventure

“Data-driven eCommerce: The Boozt data adventure” by Nina Jensen @ Boozt

In this talk, we will explore how Boozt harnesses the power of cloud native technologies and the modern data stack to drive success in the competitive online retail landscape.

This talk tells the tale of a decade old BigQuery data lake and how to modernise an eCommerce data stack, with focus on moving from ETL to ELT and leveraging cloud native technologies to handle the scale and complexity of data.

Nina Jensen is Data Engineer at Boozt and has previously worked as open source software developer. She has always loved working with data intensive systems and naturally switched from backend to data engineer in 2022.
