Cloud Native Aarhus is joining the global event organized by the CNCF Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for Environmental Sustainability. The event aims to promote environmental sustainability in the cloud native industry and open source space.
This global event, which includes both in-person meet-ups and virtual sessions, is organized by local tech communities around the world and coordinated by the TAG ENV. We believe that by encouraging such global intercontinental collaboration, we can enable people from all over the globe to understand how sustainability is an integral factor in the technology sector and how, sometimes with very little, technological and innovative initiatives can be carried out while respecting the environment.

TALK DESCRIPTIONS:
"Technology Enablement of the Sustainability Agenda"
Anja Juhl Jensen, CEO at Belance, Speaker and Optimist
The role of IT in the sustainability agenda has not gotten much attention so far, but as the percentage of global CO2 emissions from IT is growing more people will be looking toward our area. This session will introduce how IT solutions can be designed more sustainable, and software can be developed with the purpose of doing good.
Bio:
Anja Juhl Jensen has worked 20 years in the IT area. She started out working with datacenters and infrastructure, but quickly moved to ERP implementations, followed by AI and the last five years with focus on technology enablement of the sustainability agenda. She got an all around knowledge about the IT area
"Applying Load Shifting Techniques in Cloud Environments"
James Dietrich, CTO at Electricity Maps,
Electricity demand from public cloud data centers continues to skyrocket. According to some estimates, by 2026 data centers will account for nearly 20% of total electricity demand in Denmark alone. At the same time, cloud infrastructure makes it easier than ever to shift compute workloads in time and space. Developers of cloud-based software have an unprecedented opportunity to participate in the energy transition by designing software to consume electricity intelligently.
This talk covers topics like:
Bio:
James Dietrich is CTO at Electricity Maps, a Copenhagen-based startup on a mission to enable a data-driven decarbonization of electricity. Prior to joining Electricity Maps, James worked in a variety of software and engineering management roles at well-known SaaS companies like Zendesk and Peakon.
"A greener future with data and AI"
Rasmus Steiniche, CEO of Neurospace
Industrial companies have a huge role to play in the sustainability agenda.
This talk will focus on some concrete cases which Neurospace have done together with some of the biggest industrial companies in Denmark.
You will learn about the industrial domain, which technologies are in use, and how it is possible to save tons of CO2 by utilizing data and Machine Learning (AI).
Cloud native practitioners have a great part to play in lowering the environmental footprint of companies in Denmark and everywhere else.
Bio:
Rasmus Steiniche is the CEO of Neurospace and has done everything from writing java applications. creating one of Denmark's biggest multi-cloud strategies, and are now focused on creating big data and machine learning platforms.
Neurospace is a technology partner helping companies on their data and machine learning journey to become better at what they do.
