Kubernetes Ingresses and a Holiday Mixer

Endocode AG - Brückenstraße 5A Berlin - View Map Berlin Kubernetes Meetup

About this event

Steven Merrill

We want to take this chance and organise one last great Kubernetes meetup in 2016. So we would love to get together and share a few stories, talk about things we have achieved in the last year and maybe raise a cup of mulled wine together.

While we have a great speaker, we want to feature some amazing lightning talks. If you have a demo, hack, something cool, or just want to share what you've learned feel free to contact us via meetup.com or ping me via DM on Twitter (@baldwinmathew).

The Concept of Kubernetes Ingress and the NGINX Ingress Controller

Typically, services and pods have IPs only routable by the cluster network. All traffic that ends up at an edge router is either dropped or forwarded elsewhere. An Ingress is a collection of rules that allow inbound connections to reach the cluster services. It can be configured to give services externally-reachable urls, load balance traffic, terminate SSL, offer name based virtual hosting etc. An Ingress controller is responsible for fulfilling the Ingress, usually with a load balancer, though it may also configure your edge router or additional frontends to help handle the traffic in an HA manner.

This talk demonstrates the concept of Kubernetes Ingress and introduces the NGINX Ingress Controller.

What 2017 will bring to Kubernetes and rkt

2016 was the year that brought Kubernetes[masked] commits and a 1.000 contributors. Things are moving fast. Let's take a look at some new features coming to Kubernetes  and rkt in 2017.

Julian is a Software Engineer at Endocode AG. He has been building Kubernetes clusters for development and production since day one, is onboarding new members to Endocode’s Kubernetes team and is always trying to stay up to date with the latest Kubernetes features.

Luca is a software and security engineer at CoreOS where he works on rkt, a modular and security minded container engine. Luca is currently focused on network and system security topics.
