About this event

Happy New Years! WOW! Kubernetes has come a long way. And to kick off the year, we're featuring a user story of running K8s for the past two years.

Currently, we're looking for a second speaker for January. Please ping me over twitter (@baldwinmathew) if you'd like to volunteer. We only ask that it's not a vendor pitch :)

The meetup will be on January 17.

6:00 - 7:00p Social

7:00 - 7:30p - Two years of Kubernetes at Flixbus - The good, the bad and the ugly - Steffen Hanikel

In this talk I will give retrospective on how we established Kubernetes as the main platform for compute workloads in the company and how it helped our teams getting started with microservices. I will also go into detail on how we setup our clusters and the issues we encountered when running them in production.

7:30 - 8:00p - Kubernetes from Dev to Prod at GoEuro - Subhas Dandapani

GoEuro is one of the leading multi-modal travel search and booking platforms in Europe handling 20+ million visits a month, 5+ million routes, 500+ partners across 12 countries. Along with users, GoEuro also scaled from a couple dozen to 100+ services, 150+ engineers, 300+ releases a week, 2000+ builds a day, 1TB logs/metrics per day and much more.

GoEuro engineers and operations teams use Kubernetes all the way from development to production for 100+ services. This talk answers and demonstrates how to solve dev-to-prod scalable kubernetes workflows: Development environments, Local end-to-end testing, CI/CD with kubernetes, Federated routing, Cluster management, Monitoring and much more with a development-first, contract-first approach - by gluing together simple, out-of-the-box components maintained by a small 4-member team.

8:15 - Onwards - Social/Wrap up
