Hello Chicago Kubernauts!
Spring is underway and we warmly invite you to venture over and join us for the May meetup.
First on the program is Randy Chertkow presenting "CockroachDB: An Always-On Database for Microservices"
CockroachDB is the only DB purpose-built to solve all the challenges created by cloud native today. It provides distributed ACID-compliant SQL at scale that can run anywhere (on-prem, any cloud). It's Postgres-compatible, integrates seamlessly with K8s by installing a single binary, and provides a resilient multi-master architecture that can run in multiple sites concurrently and survive outages and failures without interruption - hence the name.
The second presentation features Dex delivering "Day 2 Operations of K8s Applications". Helm provides a great Day 1 experience when installing a new application. How do we manage 10's or even 100's of applications using Helm, including the variations required for different environments? Replicated's open-source tool, Ship, was built with Day 2 operations in mind. Dex will cover how to operationalize Helm charts (and more) in a GitOps and operations-friendly way.
