Talk 1

"OTEL for dummies" by Kasper Hareskov Tygesen, Chief Solutions Architect, E-mobility @ OK a.m.b.a. and Henrik Løvborg, Head of Tech Sales in Denmark @ Red Hat

OpenTelemetry has become the new golden path for how to monitor your distributed system. It let you create and collect telemetry from your services and software, then forward it to a variety of analysis tools. It supports Drop-in Instrumentation & Integrations and it is even open source and vendor neutral! What is not to like?

In this talk Kasper and Henrik will introduce you to the core elements of OpenTelemetry, and how to get started!

Talk 2

“Breaking Free: Avoiding Vendor Lock-In with Open Observability Standards” by Mirko Novakovic, Co-founder and CEO of Dash0

In a world where modern systems are growing more complex, the risk of vendor lock-in is higher than ever. Proprietary observability solutions can trap teams with escalating costs, limited flexibility, and vendor-specific tools that stifle innovation. But there’s a better way forward: open observability standards.

In this talk, we’ll explore how open technologies like OpenTelemetry, OTel SemConv, Prometheus with PromQL, and the CNCF-backed dashboard standard Perses are revolutionizing observability. You’ll learn how adopting these standards can help your team break free from lock-in, reduce costs, and create a unified, future-proof observability stack.

We’ll discuss:

• Why open standards like OpenTelemetry are essential for metrics, logs, and traces.
• How PromQL can serve as a single query language for all observability signals.
• How tools like Perses enable portable, vendor-neutral dashboards.
• Real-world benefits of an open observability approach for developers and platform teams.

Join us to discover how embracing open standards can empower you to scale observability across your systems while staying flexible, efficient, and in control of your data.
