GitOps and the Argonauts

Stavros Kroustouris, Elastic

Abstract: In this session we will be talking about the quest of a young prince, to the “Golden Configuration” to restore his family’s throne. As soon as he finds a trusted team to approve, he summons a great ship builder called CI, hops on that ship to go to the island of Workflows, down to the safe passage of Promotion Tooling, survive the deadly attack of the six-armed guardians of the quality gates, finish the three labors to move across environments and finally make it to the Golden Configuration.

Presenter: Stavros is currently working as a SRE at Elastic. He is part of the Engineering Productivity organization and his role is to create workflows that improve developers' experience within Elastic. He has a wide breadth of experience from frontend (javascript/css) to backend (python,go) to infrastructure (VMs, kubernetes, network automation) which helps him understand the needs of the developers of every part of the stack. He’s a father of two and loves nature, hiking, cycling, playing music, cooking, baking and in general starting things from scratch, woodworking and countless other things that are usually left unfinished.

Gateway API, next gen ingress and routing

Abstract: This talk will dive deep into the new Gateway API in Kubernetes, that reached GA recently and represents the next evolution for routing and ingress in Kubernetes, extending and improving with a better security model over the ingress API. We will demo how to get traffic into a cluster with HTTPRoute and TLSRoute, how to secure it with certificates and how to integrate Gateway API with Service Meshes (the GAMMA initiative).
