Previously she worked with Blinkit and Gitpod, developing solutions for reliability. She loves everything around cloud, DevOps, and security. She is recently curious and learning more about sustainability tech.

Session Description -

Get to know about CNCF and Cloud Native Sustainability Week, and in a brief 10-minute overview, understand the mission and objectives of TAG Environmental Sustainability. Nancy will also shine a light on recent initiatives and emphasize the significance of environmental sustainability in today's world. She will also explain how we can contribute as an individual to projects (https://github.com/cncf/tag-env-sustainability)

02:10 PM - 02:40 PM - Green Tech: Beyond the renewable energy integration (30 min) - Sancheeta Kaushal

Sancheeta Kaushal, a leader with a passion for team building and problem-solving. During my 7.5-year tenure at Blinkit (formerly Grofers), I played a pivotal role in driving the growth and acquisition of the organization. I built multiple product engineering teams that thrive at the crossroads of technology, business, and user needs. Now, as a Founding Member of ClimateTechCollective, I focus on helping others develop critical skills in climate tech, including green software, IoT, GIS, and AI, to make a positive impact in addressing climate change challenges.

Session Description - As we move towards greener tech, switching to renewable energy sources is just a start. Why? Because today IT sector is responsible for ~2% of global carbon emissions, equivalent to the aviation industry's emissions. Another research by Stanford University indicates servers in data centers operate at low levels of utilization, often as low as 12%. Both these stats show that we need more action to drive sustainability in tech. While there are multiple things that can be done, the talk will focus on energy-efficient algorithms and better cloud resource utilisation. Beyond environmental benefits, these strategies promise substantial cost savings, enabling us to pitch these sustainability measures at our workplaces with much more ease.

02:45 PM - 03:15 PM - GreenOps with Microsoft Azure - Akshay Dixit

Akshay Dixit, Product Manager @ Microsoft with 9 years of experience at Microsoft in cloud engineering and delivery. Led teams of 15+ people across data platform technologies. Currently focused on building ingestion and OSS connectors ecosystem in Microsoft Fabric.

Session Description -

Discover the environmental impact of cloud infrastructure, its connection to optimization, and methods to measure it, including insights into Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. Explore Microsoft's approach to measurement and gain practical insights with a demo. Plus, learn valuable tips and tricks to reduce your cloud's environmental footprint.
