"Debugging Kubernetes with kubectl debug and ephemeral pods," Karen Almog

Abstract: As of kubernetes v1.25, ephemeral containers and kubectl debug graduated to a stable feature. In my talk I will explain what ephemeral containers are, and how they can be used to debug crashed or non-responsive pods.

"Level-up your security game as a K8s developer!" Fabian Kammel

Abstract: In this talk I will present how to incorporate security best practices in your day-to-day tasks as a (Golang) Kubernetes developer. We will cover how to sign your git commits, scan container images for vulnerabilities and release + deploy minimal images that make both you and your SREs happy! We will heavily rely on the Sigstore ecosystem to sign without the hassle of key management. No subscriptions or server deployments are required, which will enable you to adopt these practices right away.

SPEAKER BIOS:

Karen Almog is an engineering manager and a developer with a DevOps background. She is an open-source contributor to various projects like k0s, kubespray and the CoreOS installer.

Fabian Kammel is a Senior Security Engineer at Edgeless Systems, striving to make Confidential Computing accessible to improve the security baseline for all cloud deployments. He is a strong believer in usable security with an "automate-everything" mindset. In the past he has worked for BOSCH as a Product Field Architect to support the next generation of cars with cryptographic material delivered from the cloud.
