Join us for the first match of the 2018 World Cup and a talk about Flatcar Linux.
Our first talk of the evening will be an in-depth look at Flatcar Linux, a friendly fork of Container Linux, created and commercially supported by Kinvolk. This part of the session will be led by Chris Kühl (@blixtra), co-founder and CEO at Kinvolk (@kinvolkio).

**We will be showing the first match at 5:00PM and will start our talk following the game, at ~7:00PM.**

The "what" and "why" of Flatcar Linux, a friendly fork of Container Linux, Chris Kühl
Abstract: Recently we at Kinvolk announced our fork of CoreOS's Container Linux called Flatcar Linux. This talk will explore the reasoning behind the fork and touch on both the community and technical sides of the topic. It will also give an intro or refresher on what makes Flatcar Linux unique and try to address compatibility concerns. In the end, the audience should come away with answers to most of the "what"s, "why"s and "how"s of Flatcar Linux. And if there remain some, questions will be gladly answered.

Chris Kühl, CEO and co-founder at Kinvolk GmbH
After getting hooked on open source software as a hobby, Chris turned his passion into a career and eventually co-founded Kinvolk in Berlin, which focuses exclusively on foundational open source Linux technologies such as the kernel, Kubernetes, containers, etc. He’s a rkt contributor and an active member of the Berlin open source community. Chris helps organize the various Cloud Native and Linux meetups in Berlin, and is one of the founding organizers of All Systems Go!, the annual foundation Linux technologies conference in Berlin.
