Speaker: Stephen Breyer-Menke
Agenda: As we add more services to the environment, the task of securing these services become more difficult. Some services have their own authorization model built in and some allow 3rd party authz plugins. Services developed in house can each use their own authz models. The difficulty in managing access policy is proportional to how many different models you need to support and synchronize throughout the environment.
Open Policy Agent enables you to centralize your authz policy definitions and look ups. You can run OPA as a centralized service that other services use for each call to authorize requests, or you can run it in more of a sidecar pattern to enable sub millisecond authz decisions across the stack.
