SCHEDULE

19:10 Solr: from prehistoric to GKE (in Spanish)

Join us to discover what is Apache Solr and first steps with this it. We could say that it is an ancient technology, but we will discover how to manage it in a modern way, deploying and scaling Solr in GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine), importing data and testing its performance.

Victor Caballero is a senior systems administrator at Lilfull Connect. He has worked in different areas, all related to systems, for more than 10 years. He has a deep background in Linux systems, storage, automation and virtualization.

19:40 Back to the future with eBPF (in Spanish)

Is it possible that the future of networking and security in Microservices will be based on technology from the past?

Several open-source Kubernetes tools are already using eBPF. Mainly related to networking, monitoring, and security.
This talk will guide you from the understanding of Linux kernel BPF concept, through the advantages and features that bring to microservices environments, to some known tools that currently make use of it, such Cilium, Weave or Istio.
If you have ever wonder how the routing and filtering of traffic at the application level is implemented, or you are just looking for an overview on the topic, this is your talk.

Beatriz Martínez works at IBM’s Architecture and Innovation department, mainly focus on enterprise-grade cloud environments. Passionate about technology and innovation, she is an insatiable learner who loves getting involved with open-source communities.

19:50 Embracing Istio at a Telco (in Spanish)

What is the next generation microservices architecture about? What is service mesh? What is Istio?

In this talk we will talk why and how we embraced Istio for running a production-ready environment of hundreds of microservices. Learning Istio for the first time is hard, but we will explain how to make it easy. Observability? Authentication? Advanced deployment strategies? Timeouts? Retry policies? This can all be done directly in the service mesh.

Istio is production-ready but still in active development, there are many things you need to keep in mind if you don't want to fail.

Pablo Moncada is Google Developer Expert (GDE) for Cloud and works as SRE Engineer in a Telco related company. Telco industry demands speed, scalability and observability to the limits.

20:15 Networking, Pizzas and Drinks by Lilfull Connect.
