First meet up of organizers to discuss action plans for the community group.

Discuss how to move forward about the community group, talk about first event, and ocular inspection for potential event venue in University of the Philippines.

  1. Arjay. Lance, Addam, and Gerald started the meeting at 10:00AM with topics related to Kubestronaut Program of CNCF. Lance discussed the journey to it and shared how he had prepared to it. Encourages the rest to also do the same and put in our goals to have more people in the future aspire to be. Golden Kubestronaut also mentioned as great learning journey and credential.

  2. Areas of focus to be discussed in the planned future event had been discussed and agreed with the following:

    • CNCF General Information - assigned to Lance, what is CNCF, the projects under it, and value of it for the IT individuals and the community. Lance to reach out with other organizers if they had done the same in the past and if there is a template that we can start with and improve instead of starting from scratch.

    • Training and Certifications - assigned to Arjay, present to attendees in the next event what are the certifications available, free trainings, and all information around Linux Education.

    • Linux - assigned to Addam, share technical knowledge as to why Linux is the foundational knowledge for the majority of projects including cloud solutions.

    • Security Projects - assigned to Shaquille to present projects and essential information for attendees interested to security.

    • Community Groups and Communication Channels - assigned to Gerald to share all information how to collaborate with people in the community for learning, assistance, projects, and opportunities. This includes having account in Github, LinkedIn, Slack, etc…

  3. Invite Romar Cablao if possible so he can share his thoughts and show somebody that is also Kubestronaut, not only Lance.

  4. Survey - Lance to prepare a survey as to ask what audiences already possesses in terms of:

    • Interests

    • Current skillsets

    • What learning sites they are using now

  5. IT Professionals statistics in the Philippines - find out this data, similar to CNCF inclusivity research

  6. Find out what topics being discussed in schools now in different fields of studies BS CS, IT, CE. Ask UP if they can provide.

  7. Find out the schedules of schools.

  8. Which schools to invite first.

  9. Certificate of attendance to be prepared for those who attended.

  10. Finalized first event details:

    • Location: University of the Philippines Diliman, Law Center

    • Date: TBD

    • Target Audience: higher percentage of University Students or aspiring individuals (studying in school or not) and open also to interested professionals. (ratio of 80%-20% in favor of students or can change later on)

  11. Wrapped up the talk by doing ocular inspection of the UP Function halls available for the next event. See event photos.
