About this event

Cloud Native Night Munich

Since the advent of GitOps on Kubernetes, we've witnessed a revolutionary shift in how we deploy applications and manage clusters. This approach has not only proven its versatility and scalability but has fundamentally transformed the landscape of cloud-native technology over the years. Today, GitOps is not just a methodology; it’s a paradigm shift that ensures seamless, secure, and efficient infrastructure management.

In our upcoming session, we invite you to delve deeper into the world of GitOps on Kubernetes. Discover the secrets behind efficiently managing a whole fleet of clusters, and explore the powerful capabilities of extending the Flux GitOps operator.

THIS MEETUP WILL BE HYBRID.

ABSTRACTS

Efficient Kubernetes Fleet Management with Cluster API and GitOps

Leander Reimer (CTO, QAware)

GitOps has become the most important approach for simple, secure and traceable deployment of Kubernetes workloads. In this talk, we provide a comprehensive introduction to Cluster API and demonstrate how it can be used to efficiently and reliably manage entire fleets of Kubernetes clusters using modern GitOps methods.

Following some practical demos on AWS and GCP as a quick start, we will highlight another, more lightweight option for deploying a multitude of virtual clusters with vCluster. This talk offers valuable insights and practical guidance for #CloudNativeNerds and #PlatformEngineers.

Extending Flux for fun and profit

Lukas Buchner (Senior Software Engineer, QAware)

Flux is a GitOps operator for Kubernetes that we use a lot in-house. Flux brings a solid base and leaves little to be desired. But what if a feature is missing? Flux can be extended for exactly such cases. In this talk we will take an in-depth look at Flux, how it works internally and will implement such an extension.
