Cloud-ready Micro Java EE 8 - Ondro Mihályi, Payara
Abstract: One of the key challenges of breaking up monoliths into microservices is orchestration. This presentation looks at some of the brand-new features and APIs in Java EE 8 and MicroProfile that can help. It presents how easily messaging can be made cloud-ready with JCA connectors and how your Java EE based microservices can be so lightweight with Payara Micro to run them on low-cost clusters.
About the speaker: Ondro is a software developer and consultant specializing in combining standard and proven tools to solve new and challenging problems. He's been developing in Java and Java EE for 9 years. As a Scrum Master and experienced Java EE developer, he's helped companies to build and educate their development teams, improve their development processes and be flexible and successful in meeting client requirements. He’s a core member of Payara and MicroProfile opensource projects and a leader of Czech JUG. He loves working with Java EE community and would welcome anyone to contribute to Payara, MicroProfile, as well as to any other opensource project in the Java EE ecosystem.
Cloud-native Java EE-volution - M.-Leander Reimer, QAware GmbH
Abstract: Until today existing enterprise applications are integrated, tested, and deployed as monoliths. This is very time-consuming and hinders agile business models. Cloud technology promises unlimited scalability, short release cycles, quick deployments and antifragility. But can we evolve these systems into the cloud with reasonable effort? What do we have to change and what are the risks involved? This talk will share the experiences from a real world customer project and present an industrialized approach for the Cloud-native evolution of existing IT landscapes.
About the speaker: M.-Leander Reimer is a chief technologist for QAware GmbH. He is a senior Java developer with several years of experience in designing complex and large-scale system architectures. He is continuously looking for innovations and ways to combine and apply state-of-the-art technology and open source software components in real-world customer projects. He studied computer science at Rosenheim and Staffordshire University and he is teaching cloud computing as a part time lecturer.
