The Kubernetes Operator pattern is one of the most powerful features of Kubernetes, allowing you to extend your cluster with any functionality you need. Many vendors and CNCF projects have made their APIs accessible through operators. However, to match your software development lifecycle (SDLC), existing operators may not always be sufficient or may expose more of the API than you’d like to provide to your developers.
In this live coding session, we'll explore various strategies for building custom operators, composing them, and simplifying their consumption. We'll also use the Java Operator SDK to demonstrate how this language is well-suited for the Kubernetes ecosystem.
