About the event (Riguardo l'evento)

18:30 The doors are open (apertura delle porte)

19:00 - 19:30 - Prometheus as exposition format for eBPF programs by Leonardo Di Donato

Nowadays every application exposes their metrics via an HTTP endpoint readable by using Prometheus. Recently the exposition format got renamed as OpenMetrics from the CNCF. Nevertheless, this very common pattern by definition only expose metrics regarding the specific applications being observed. This talk wants to expose the idea, and a reference implementation, of a slightly different use case that uses eBPF programs as a source of information to allow the exposition and collection of kernel and application probes via a Prometheus endpoint.

19:40 - 20:25 - From 0 to Continuous Deployments with Kubernetes, Helm, and GitLab by Stefano Torressi

A live demonstration on how to get up and running from an empty directory to a fully functional application, continuously deployed to a live Kubernetes cluster, with per-branch automatic releases and manual environment promotion. We'll be giving a short primer on Kubernetes itself, which will be the base framework for our infrastructure, an introduction to Helm, which helps to manage K8S resource manifests and install third-party components, and show how to leverage the GitLab SaaS to implement a CI/CD pipeline.
