AWS Fargate instead of Amazon EC2 instances for one-off Tasks

About this event

Amazon EC2 is ubiquitous, and it's common to see EC2 instances being spun up for one-off tasks such as on-demand database backups or infrequent cron jobs and then left idle, resulting in wasted resources.

By packaging these tasks as Docker images, AWS Fargate lets you run these tasks as containers on demand. These containers are terminated after the task has been completed, allowing you to take advantage of pay-as-you-use billing to reduce running costs and operational overheads by avoiding the need to run servers or clusters. In this talk, watch Sathyajith Bhat (Senior DevOps Engineer at Adobe) explain how he automates getting database dumps from Amazon RDS by using AWS Fargate under specific constraints.
