--------- The Agenda ---------
18:00 - Welcome
18:10 - Arne Claus, Sr. Site Reliability Engineer @trivago
“The evolution of the trivago monitoring stack”
Monitoring at trivago evolved a lot over the past 10 years. We basically went from collectd and nagios to a full prometheus/thanos setup, which we call "the metrics-mesh". This talk sheds a light on the challenges and decisions along the way, the thanos architecture and some of the pain points we are still facing.
18:50 - Break
19:20 - Shubham Katara, Systems Engineer @trivago
"A Managed Service for Secrets Management for On-prem Kubernetes"
- Abstraction of lower level details of Secrets Management from Developers.
- Kubernetes Namespaces with out of the box integration with Secrets management solution like Hashicorp Vault
- Platform agnostic approach for secrets management
20:00 - Break
20:15 - Yuri Oliveira, Sr. Software Engineer @RedHat
"Auto Instrumentation for your NodeJS Application on Kubernetes"
Applications using distributed architecture are becoming more frequent and complex through Kubernetes deployments. Developers are more concerned about generating useful logs, gathering metrics, and thus maintaining the application with precise data about the performance baseline. Therefore, to help developers enhance this instrumenting approach, the OpenTelemetry project leverages analytical capabilities by expanding the possibilities of collecting and exporting telemetry data from the Kubernetes workload.
In this talk, I will share an easy way for the audience to achieve the auto-instrumenting of different programming languages' workloads using the OpenTelemetry Operator.
