About this event

Hello!

We keep riding the momentum of Cloud Native and we are excited to be hosted for the first time at B. Amsterdam by the generous hosts at IBM. We are still looking for a great second speaker so reach out to us if you want to present (and we will be very happy to give space to a first timer! We can even help you winning the stage fright, we have all been there before and once you get the hang of it, public speaking is addictive, trust us :)).

1st talk:
Istio, do you need more Kubernetes networking headaches?
by Richard Bakker

In this presentation, we will talk about the implementation of a service mesh in Kubernetes. Why would you want to have one, what does it bring and how does it integrate in your Kubernetes cluster. Then it will be demonstrated how micro-service patterns can be realized without changing code. You will get recommendations of next steps to explore the Istio service mesh yourself.

2nd talk:
Creating a Kubernetes cluster farm
by Mislav Stipetic

Magic Sandbox (msb.com) is a new hands-on Kubernetes training platform. It was built with the goal of teaching Kubernetes on real infrastructure, and in the past 2 years they've rebuilt the supporting infrastructure several times as the platform evolved from an MVP to a full product.

In this talk they'll cover the various approaches and compromises they've had to take as the platform evolved as a quick hack on top of Digital Ocean to assembling clusters on demand from pools of worker and master nodes, as well as engineering challenges that came from it - from dealing with networking issues to supporting real LoadBalancer services and Persistent Volumes.

Mislav studied Computer Science in Zagrev, always hacking projects on the side. One of them landed him a speaker slot at the EuroPython in Berlin, where he joined Delivery Hero as an infrastructure engineer and later the AI/data science team at Flixbus where he worked on the pricing engine (that now sets bus prices across Europe and the US). His most recent role was at Infarm where he was a Tech Lead running IoT. In 2018 he got accepted into EF, a company builder, where he co-founded MSB.com

We have limited space so secure your spot today!
