Welcome to our very first 'East Bay Cloud Native' meetup! We are very excited to have Dave Nielsen give two talks on Containers, Microservices, Redis and Kubernetes.
Bring along your colleagues/friends who might find these talks interesting and/or would like to network with folks working in Cloud Native space.
6:00: Grab a seat. Have some food and drinks.
6:30: Welcome (Sudhanshu Garg)
6:45: Talk 1 - "Setting up Containers on your Laptop" (Dave Nielsen)
7:30: Talk 2 - "Scaling your Microservices with Redis and Kubernetes" (Dave Nielsen)
8:15: Close (Sudhanshu Garg)
Folks can stay back and continue to network until 9:00pm.
Talk 2 Description: "What do you do when parts of your monolithic app begin to hockey stick? Do you duck tape those parts when they break? Do you rewrite your entire app with scalability in mind? What if you could gradually do both? With Redis and Kubernetes you can! Redis became famous by solving hockey stick problems (remember the Twitter Fail Whale?). Kubernetes became famous by solving the microservices problem (remember Pokemon Go?). There are 100's of examples like these. Together, Redis + Kubernetes can teach your whale to scale one microservice at a time. In this session, Dave will demonstrate how service discovery in Kubernetes made it easy to create microservices and how Redis made it easy to scale."
Speaker: Dave Nielsen, Head of Ecosystem Programs, Redis Labs
