Welcome to our 13th 'East Bay Cloud Native' meetup!
6:00: Grab a seat. Have some food and drinks and network.
6:30: Talk 1 - Ingress application delivery solutions in Kubernetes for enterprise applications (Matt Drown and Pushkar Patil)
7:30: Talk 2 - Kubernetes on Red Hat OpenShift hands-on (Marek Sadowski)
8:30: More networking until 9:00pm.
Talk 1 Description: Eight characteristics are used to evaluate four key architectures for inserting application delivery controllers or load balancers in a Kubernetes environment. These architectures include two-tiered ingress, unified ingress, Service Mesh and Service Mesh Lite. Customers are evaluating such architectures from the perspective of security, policy enforcement and internal skills requirement.
Speaker Bio: Matt Drown is networking software engineer and Pushkar Patil is a member of the Cloud Native PM Team at Citrix.
Talk 2 Description: This is a 60 min hands-on workshop. Audience: Beginner to Intermediate. Come to our meetup and learn about OpenShift, a powerful Kubernetes platform for enterprise. Marek will provision an OpenShift cluster for you, so that you can complete two interactive workshops.
What will you learn?
- What is OpenShift, and how does it compare to and improve Kubernetes
- Creating OpenShift projects
- Creating OpenShift Applications
- Managing OpenShift Applications
The Kubernetes with OpenShift meetup is a hands-on workshop that empowers developers to innovate and ship faster with the leading hybrid cloud, enterprise container platform.
Red Hat OpenShift offers automated installation, upgrades, and lifecycle management throughout the container stack—the operating system, Kubernetes and cluster services, and applications—on any cloud. Red Hat OpenShift is focused on security at every level of the container stack and throughout the application lifecycle. It includes long-term, enterprise support from one of the leading Kubernetes contributors and open source software companies.
Speaker Bio: Marek Sadowski is a full stack developer advocate, a robotics startup founder and an entrepreneur. He has about 20 year experience in consulting largest enterprises in USA, Europe, Japan, Middle East and Africa. As a graduate from the International Space University Marek pioneered in a research on VR goggles for the virtual reality system to control robots on Mars in NASA Ames. He founded a startup to deliver robotics solutions and services for industries. Marek moved to Silicon Valley to promote mobile, IoT and robotics solutions driven by AI, Blockchain, and Cloud Native.
