Talk Details
· Power up with Podman (Eric D. Schabell, Chronosphere)
Curious about containers beyond Docker? There’s a new generation of containers on the scene, Podman! Supporting secure, rootless containers for Kubernetes microservices, it was designed and built with the cloud in mind. Benefitting from the lessons learned out in the open from Docker, this next generation of containers will quickly become a trusted daily driver in your dev workflow. Covering what you need to know as an end-user from the UI to the backend, sharing a real world use case leveraging Podman for open source observability workshops https://o11y-workshops.gitlab.io. Attendees will learn how Podman and the adorable seal mascots Caitlín, Maighréad and Róisín can transform their local development!
· Anti-patterns of Cloud Operation (Giacomo Marletta, Amigoco)
When deploying and running workloads in the cloud, it is good to consider different viewpoints. Large cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform all offer prescriptive guidance regarding how to build your own Cloud Operating Model, including typical team structures observed and well-architected principles. While these can provide a valuable starting point and reference, it is worthwhile considering things to avoid.
This talk provides some light-hearted examples of anti-patterns observed over several large cloud implementations, covering the domains of Architecture, Security, DevOps and Quality Assurance.
This talk is suitable for anyone involved in a technical project, with no prior technical knowledge required.
