It is due time for our next Meetup - this time with Stefan Schimanski from Red Hat. Join us and learn more about how to extend the Kube API with Custom Resources and Aggregated API Servers.
6:30 pm: Admission
7:00 pm: Extending the Kube API with Custom Resources and Aggregated API Servers, Stefan Schmianski
8:00 pm: Yummy snacks, cold drinks, nice chats
This talk will explore the concepts behind the Kubernetes API. While Kubernetes is pretty good at launching pods, this is not the topic of this talk. Instead we will learn about the type universe where the well-known Kubernetes objects live, about kinds and resources, how versioning and conversion works and how API groups are used to group types in logical groups. With this knowledge we will look into CustomResourceDefinitions to store custom objects and how these will evolve in Kubernetes 1.8+. Finally, user-provided API servers are discussed as a way to extend a Kubernetes cluster with your own full-features and native API types.
