Tonight we will have two speakers presenting on our namesakes technology, Kubernetes. James will kick us off with an introduction to Kubernetes and an overview of the CNCF landscape; what their mission is and the projects they support. There will also be demos of Kubernetes objects and deploying clusters.

Our next talk will be by Jesse, he joins us from Docker New York City and Kubernetes and Cloud Native New York Meetups, and he will be discussing the impact of running Kubernetes in the Enterprise. How doing so will enable developers to increase software deployment velocity and time to market.

Please come with an appetite to learn and eat. We will also be serving pizza and refreshments before the presentations.

Speaker bio:

Jesse White is VP Engineering for Contino, with more than 15 years of technology industry experience across financial services, healthcare, advertising, e-commerce, and IoT verticals. As a 10 year veteran of New York City’s vibrant “Silicon Alley”, he’s intimately familiar with delivering cloud solutions, effective team building, and Agile process adoption. As an early contributor to the Container ecosystem, he plays a foundational role in New York City’s open source community as founder of DockerNYC. Jesse has spent the last 5 years focusing on the intersection of automation, cloud computing, security and DevOps methodologies.

James has in-depth experience migrating applications and team processes into a cloud native environment. With a history of working on infrastructure teams and a passion for helping Developers understand the impact of their application on infrastructure. James has several cloud certifications including AWS Devops Pro, AWS CSA Pro and the CNCF Certified Kubernetes Administrator. He currently helps enterprises move application workloads to Kubernetes.
