Presentation:
Many development teams have been adopting cloud-based services like AWS and utilizing services like RedShift or S3 or RDS because it eliminates a lot over the operational overhead of provisioning/managing those supporting (but vital) services. But what about hybrid and on-prem developers? Here is where Operators and the Operator Lifecycle Manager come into play. By using the multitude of high-quality operators for operatorhub.io, you can have similar services for your on-prem or hybrid cloud Kubernetes clusters. In this session I will describe what an operator is, what it can do, how they can be built, as well as how they can be published and consumed. There will be a short intro to the operator-sdk, access to Katacoda lab environments for experimenting with operators, and additional resources for learning more about operators.
