API Gateways and Service Mesh for Kubernetes the Easy Way plus a Case Study from D-Teck Solutions

"SOLO.IO
Kubernetes users need to allow traffic to flow from and to the cluster and the workloads today are diverse from micro services, to legacy monoliths to serverless functions. Treating the application traffic separately from the business logic allows presents new possibilities in how service to service traffic is served, controlled and observed — and provides a transition to application networking architectures like Service Mesh.

In this talk we will show how we leveraged Envoy Proxy and Kubernetes to build and operationalize Gloo Gateway, a multipurpose yet lightweight gateway for APIs, Knative serving and Kubernetes Ingress that seamlessly integrates to Service Mesh with the Service Mesh Hub - a mesh agnostic dashboard for installing and operating meshes. We will cover how the pluggable and extensible architecture of both Gloo and Service Mesh Hub make it easy to use and easy to build to for your Kubernetes based applications. Demos included for to show how to work with Gloo and Service Mesh Hub for Kubernetes and Istio environments

D-TECK
D-Teck is a HR tech startup that leads the science of psychometric assessments and making them universally accessible through their software platform to help businesses make better, more informed HR decisions. This talk will cover the multiple phases of their journey to production with Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Gloo, Helm, Terraform, gRPC and more with lessons learned and adjustments along made along the way.

Human no, machine yes - Welcome to one of the latest Linux Foundation sub-organizations, the CDF

"Rarely is software in a vacuum / only one step. The Kubernetes Ecosystem has seen great expansion in workloads previously though not placeable on the container orchestrator thanks to Operators [or CRDs + Controllers]. These mechanisms allow for workflows to execute inside of Kubernetes; for example if wanting to use an Operator, have the ability to lay down / configure application cluster infrastructure to be usable inside of K8s. This is where the rubber meets the road, though there are ecosystem expansions that occur regularly. Looking at the CNCF landscape, this landscape is exploding and the bootstrap argument gets more complex. Introducing the CDF, the neutral set of organizations helping user in new technology into organizations.
