About this event

Happy Holidays all! Join us in the New Year at the Kubernetes CNCF meetup where we'll be hearing from Gadi Naor of Alcide and Karthik Prabhakar at Tigera. Huge thanks to Quartet Health for hosting and co-sponsor Lifion.

Read on for more details!

Talk 1: Kubernetes Audit Log - Gold Mine For Security

Speaker: Gadi Naor

Talk Summary: In the security world, one of the most established methods to identify that a system was compromised, abused or mis-configured is to collect logs of all the activity performed by the system’s users and automated services and to analyze these logs - Kubernetes API Server audit subsystem is exactly that. In an era where operators, controllers, in-cluster components as well as external components are what application made from - having a practice around this security data source becomes a must. Join us to learn about how Kubernetes Audit log can be utilized to enhance the security of Kubernetes based deployments

Gadi is CTO & Co-Founder, Alcide. He has 15 years of experience in developing and leading the development of cybersecurity products including at CheckPoint, at which he was a Business Development Manager in his last role. Gadi then joined Altor Networks, a pioneer in virtualized data center security, later acquired by Juniper Networks. Prior to Alcide, Gadi co-founded Fitfully, at which he served as CTO. Gadi holds a B.A in Computer Science from the Technion Institute of Technology.

Talk 2: Getting to Scale: "Kubernetes Deployment Patterns for Networks and Network Security"

Speaker: Karthik Prabhakar

Talk Summary: The adoption of Kubernetes progresses through stages of maturity in most organizations. Clusters start small but eventually grow into critical business infrastructure. Karthik will share some lessons learned through collaboration with numerous cluster and cloud platform operators as they've evolved through their respective K8s journeys. This talk has a particular focus on network (including service mesh) connectivity and security designs. He'll also highlight considerations for scale both for cluster deployment as well as day-2 operations.

Karthik is the Director of Solution Architecture at Tigera, where he helps customers with secure application connectivity designs leveraging various open source projects that Tigera maintains or is involved with (such as Project Calico, Flannel, CNI, Istio, etc.). Karthik has assisted in the architecture of numerous containerized and cloud infrastructure deployments at scale.
