Thinking of implementing Docker/Kubernetes? Come learn from someone who has gone through that experience. This talk is an exploratory look back on two months of heavy Kubernetes learning and application through iteration. It highlights many of the opportunities and failures of trying to achieve a production-ready cluster while leveraging existing resources through the eyes of a systems engineer. Through this talk, listeners will be able to witness first hand the challenges and risks taken, realize that their own failures are not uncommon, spread adoption of new technology within an organization, and how they can make reliability and performance first class products in their own organizations.

Speaker Bio
Matt Ouille is a Dallas-area systems engineer and software development enthusiast, currently applying his specialty to distributed systems and the world of industrial internet of things and also leads the DFW Site Reliability Engineering meetup. As an engineer one of his core tenants is the ability to share, he takes pride in both his workshops, and posting his learnings on his website. He's self-described as a lover of Linux, open source, Go, and Python; Matt is also a home automation fanatic, spends lots of time with his dog, and advocates for reform among DFW businesses to become software first.
