7:00 - General announcements

7:05 - Brian Akins - k3s - Lightweight Kubernetes https://k3s.io

7:15 - Josh Kurz - Production GKE setup

Running K8s in production is hard, so many teams choose to move to hosted platforms. This does not necessarily reduce the complexity of running k8s in production. No matter the hosted platform chosen, there are still many facets of knowledge that are required to successfully run k8s in production. In this talk we will dive in GKE and learn about its many benefits and features. We will be discussing everything from how to setup networking, to how to lock a cluster down via RBAC so it's the most secure it can be. The goal will be for anyone to take away what it takes to run GKE in production for long term success.

Josh Kurz is a Principle Architect at Weight Watchers. Josh got his start doing front end development with AngularJS and has worked at all layers in the stack. He has been working with K8s for close to 4 years now on teams that manage hundreds of clusters and thousands of different applications. Josh also likes Bob Ross.
