About this event

Hello South Bay Kubernetes Enthusiasts!

I hope everyone's November is going great! We have some exciting talks lined up for this month's meetup.

Yep, you read that right, we have two talks scheduled this month instead of one. We have one Storage themed talk and one Kubernetes management themed talk by excellent speakers from the industry.

We are also featuring a bigger conference room at our new location in Downtown San Jose.

Talk  I -  From Stateless to Stateful

From Stateless to Stateful Services with Kubernetes. Are you ready to take your containerized apps from dev/test into production? If so, you’ll want pro tips for transitioning from stateless to stateful services with Kubernetes. Join this informative discussion with Grace Chung, Senior Systems Engineer at Diamanti, where you’ll explore best practices for persistent storage and automated networking that will ensure your environment supports mixed workloads with stable, predictable performance.

Grace Chung is the Sr. Systems Engineer at Diamanti, the Silicon Valley company enabling enterprises to get their container deployments up and running in 15 minutes. As an expert on open-source software and hyperconverged infrastructure, Grace works hands-on with organizations to strategize and execute their technical vision, delivering a fully realized containerized strategy. With over 10 years at companies like IBM, SAP and Blue Data, Grace brings her expertise of application infrastructure to Diamanti.

Talk II - Conflict free Scheduling with Kubernetes

Ever wondered how to tell your containers to only run on certain machines, or never run on certain machines, or never run next to another stinkier container? Kubernetes scheduling is a powerful, but complex beast and it can be tailored to meet your exact requirements precisely.  In this interactive discussion, ex-Google, ex-Microsoft, and recent Founding Engineer at Caascade Labs, Inc. will demystify advanced Kubernetes scheduling, including co-location, affinity, anti-affinity, taints and tolerations with us.

Kynan Rilee is a Founding Engineer at Caascade Labs, Inc, where he builds systems for automating, managing and maintaining modern infrastructure on Kubernetes. Kynan has deep expertise in infrastructure and functional programming which he brings to the table at Caascade Labs.

As always, there will be pizza and soft drinks for everyone!

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

From 101 - 280, take 87. Get off at Julian St. Exit, which dumps you on to W. St James. Our building is on the right!

Our building and block has lots of construction on it. The front entrance on actual N Market St (across from the court house) to our is blocked off and currently unusable, so for everyone must enter around the back on N San Pedro St. between W St. James and W St. John. Foyer is under construction, but still working - take elevators to 8th floor.

There is a parking garage next to our building, called Impark Parking. There are entrances at both 45 N San Pedro St. and 30 N Market St. Does cost money. but only $6 for two hours.

**There is a parking lot here, around this back side of building, however it is NOT open to public and they will tow.**
