About this event

[UPDATED]: Join us at the Deis Boulder office for a discussion on "Bootkube: Self-hosted Kubernetes" with Joshua Russo!

[6:00 - 6:30 PM] Dinner + Drinks

[6:30 - 7:15 PM] Bootkube: Self-hosted Kubernetes (Joshua Rosso)

What if the same principles used to manage our beloved k8s clusters could be applied to the k8s control plane itself? In this talk, we'll dive into a technical overview of the kubernetes-incubator project bootkube. Bootkube takes control plane elements such as the API server, controller manager, and scheduler, and hosts them in the same cluster as k8s-deployed applications. Enabling upgrades, cluster modifications, and troubleshooting to maintain a similar experience run in Kubernetes. You'll leave this talk with an understanding of why bootkube exists, how to bootstrap a self-hosted k8s cluster, and how to deal with disaster recovery of various components.

Bio: Josh is a Services Engineer at CoreOS living out of Boulder, Colorado. He runs and skis (contingent on snow) in his free time and loves messing with open source stuff.
