## Speakers:

### Christian Kniep | Docker
With a 10y journey rooted in the HPC parts of the german automotive industry, Christian started to support CAE applications and VR installations. When told at a conference that HPC can not learn anything from the emerging Cloud and BigData companies, he became curious and was leading the containerization effort of the cloud-stack at Playstation Now. Christian joined Docker Inc in 2017 to help push the adoption forward and be part of the innovation instead of an external bystander.During the day he helps Docker customers in the EMEA region to fully utilize the power of containers; at night he likes to explore new emerging trends by containerizing them first and seek application in the nebulous world of DevOps.

### Thorsten Herre | Cloud Security Architect | SAP SE
Thorsten Herre is the Cloud and Container Security Architect within the SAP Global Security Team and has more than 10 years’ experience in the field of IT and Cloud Security. After studying computer science in Germany he worked mainly in the area of computer security and IT.

Currently within SAP, Thorsten is responsible for designing the security architecture of various SAP Cloud offerings and consults also SAP customers in matters of disruptive technologies like Cloud, Mobile or Big Data where SAP must lead with innovative security solutions to be successful. He has presented at numerous SAP and security related conferences (like RSA) on the subject of SAP Security and has lead within SAP the development of new security standards, reporting and monitoring models. In 2017, Thorsten focused additionally on creating a SAP Security Reference Architecture for the used container technologies and DevOps principles.

### Andre Erler | SAP | IT Security Consultant
Andre Erler is the IT Senior Consultant within the SAP Cloud Infrastructure IT department and has 5 years experience in the field of IT. After studying information technology in Germany he worked in the area of IT. Currently within SAP, Andre supports various implementation projects in regards of implementation and

## Talks Abstracts

###T1: Christian will introduce the bits and pieces comprising the Docker ecosystem from the runtime to the orchestrators SWARM and Kubernetes. After the baseline is set he will elaborate on how the Kubernetes integration works and how it enhances the Docker world for everyone to use.
The talk will include a step-by-step demo showing SWARM and Kubernetes alongside in a multi-node setup.

###T2: The use of container applications will fundamentally change not only the IT and cloud services but also the underlying security architectures and responsibilities. SAP SE is using more and more container technology for their own internal build environments but also in the productive cloud deployments (CI/CD-Pipeline). Traditional security measures of IT operations or within the application development will no longer apply in the containerized world and must be re-imagined. The talk will outline the general attack vectors and the SAP security reference architecture for container image build pipelines and the secure container application deployments in e.g. docker or kubernetes clusters using the available security features. It will conclude with the changed operation and responsibility model for container developers in a DevOps world.
