About this event

Installation of Kubernetes on Google Cloud Platform: The Slow and Ugly Way by Christopher Coffey (Google)

We will walk through how to manually build a Kubernetes cluster on GCP using Kelsey Hightowser’s Kubernetes-the-hard-way guide. We will also install Helm with a dedicated Tiller instance within a namespace for added security.

Distributed Tracing by Mikel Duke (USAA)

After moving from a big ball of mud (monolith) to microservices, some service broke. It's difficult to find the source of the problem which now involves multiple frameworks and languages. Join us as we explore using OpenTracing + Jaeger to instrument frameworks and applications to identify the culprit using vendor neutral open standards.
