Charles Pretzer - Service Mesh Core Principles: Observability through Telemetry with Linkerd
As the service mesh category of software continues to mature, the CNCF's first service mesh, Linkerd, has been adopted in production by an increasing number of organizations. One of the reasons for this adoption is that Linkerd enables collection of rich and actionable telemetry.
In the talk, we'll discuss about how metrics their collection are a core principle of any service mesh, and why the Linkerd team made observability through telemetry a core principle for Linkerd's architecture.
You'll learn about the tools available in Linkerd for viewing the metrics and we'll explore ideas for what types of integration with other CNCF projects would improve the application observability.
