About this event

Dear all,

first things first: HAPPY NEW YEAR!

We have scheduled the next meetup. This time it's going to be a little bit different, we will start with a talk by Javier and followed by a round table with Félix,  José, Teo, Javier & moderated by myself. It's going to be an open discussion so prepare your questions or your answers!

Site Reliability Engineering, a talk[masked]% interesting (if below 99.95% we'll refund 30% of your ticket price*)

In this talk we'll tell you what SRE is about, or in other words, how to have your system always on. We'll see how Google, Facebook, Uber, Etsy, StackOverflow, Netflix, or Baidu organise internally to guarantee their reliability levels. I'll give an overview on SRE basics, and on how to grow a culture allowing your systems to auto repair when there is an incident. I'll also tell you how to lose $460 millions in 30 minutes due to code that hadn't been used in 8 years. This is a true story.

About: Javier Ramírez is the co-founder of teowaki, where they help companies like Zalando, BBVA, or Airbus with their big data, reliability, and distributed computing problems. He's recognised by Google as a Developer Expert in Cloud and as a Google Cloud Platform authorised trainer.

Round table about Resilience

In computer networking: resilience is the ability to provide and maintain an acceptable level of service in the face of faults and challenges to normal operation.” Threats and challenges for services can range from simple misconfiguration over large scale natural disasters to targeted attacks. As such, network resilience touches a very wide range of topics. In order to increase the resilience of a given communication network, the probable challenges and risks have to be identified and appropriate resilience metrics have to be defined for the service to be protected.

The talk is going to be in English & the round table in Spanish.
