Rules for Entry:
In teams of 2 to 5 people, solve a key business challenge from the below listed domains, using the data set of your choosing (examples provided below). Depending on the problem, you may solve the problem, by using a Data Platform, using Machine Learning or AI, or through some Analytics Solution.

1) FSI
Example FSI Data Set

Example business challenges may include:

Based on bank account activity, provide catered advice on how your clients should save.
Home loan rates, which is the correct rate for maximum profits?
Be creative and pick your own key business challenge and own data set

2) Energy
Example Energy Data Set

Example business challenges may include:

Predicting efficiency of windfarms in different regions.
Predicting oil pricing in the future
Be creative and pick your own key business challenge and own data set

3) Transport
Example Aviation Data Set

Example business challenges may include:

Optimum pricing, Based on predictive supply vs demand of airline seats
Predicting fastest routes of travel at varying points in time.
Be creative and pick your own key business challenge and own data set

4) Telco
Example Telco Data Set

Example business challenges may include:

Increasing family household plans
International free minutes, which offerings maximize profits.
Be creative and pick your own key business challenge and own data set

5) Other
Be creative pick your own domain (e.g. Pharmaceutical, FMCG, Space etc.) and pick your own key business challenge and own data set.

The solution must:
Solve a business problem
Show ingenuity
Be easily re-usable for different sets of data

Finalists chosen:
On the 1st of October 2018, we will select the top 7 solution ideas, who will be invited to present their solution at the Data Showdown as our winning finalists.

Rules for finalists:
Turn your solution into a 6 min presentation, which clearly shows:

Solution, including technical designs/diagrams. (Releasing code is optional)
Showing your solution against the data provided
Demonstration of execution and ease of running/use (understand some data processes take time)
Presenting other use cases including all business problems it solves.

Judging Criteria:
Our panel of Judges will score each presentation, based on the following 4 categories:

1) Business: The importance of the business problem solved or its usefulness or the pereceived value of the solution;

2) Ingenuity: How original the solution is, focus around problems not yet tackled;

3) Re-usability: How easy it is to teach to others and to re-implement for different use cases. This could be either across a business or industry;

4) Presentation: Quality of the Presentation, how well the team presents to the audience, including entertainment value.
