Welcome to the Melbourne Kubernetes Meetup. This meetup has a focus on Istio with two great talks.

Brett Henderson from DigIO

Over the past six months Istio has gone from a technology that hardly anybody has heard of to becoming a fundamental building block in the Kubernetes ecosystem. It has gained broad industry backing and underpins a wide variety of solutions and offerings. There are many announcements and news articles relating to Istio, but there are few documented examples of it being applied in the real-world.

ME Bank are currently building a new integration platform underpinning their IT systems with approximately 250 business operations spread across 150 different service deployments. Come along to hear how Istio is being applied to address a range of requirements including secure communications, advanced routing, canary deployments, distributed tracing and observability.
