About this event

Welcome to the Melbourne Kubernetes User Group.

Location: DigIO, Level 2, 452 Flinders Street, Melbourne, VIC, 3000

This will be a dual track event, where one track would be dedicated to beginners who want to learn about kubes and the other track would be for folks who are already using kubernetes and want to learn about advanced topics / use cases.

Beginners Track:

The Beginners Track is for people who are new to Kubernetes or would love to learn more about kubernetes. This track would take place in a separate breakout area.

Topic : Kubernetes 101 ( Recommend reading on containers and container orchestration tools before the session )

The Advanced Track:

In the advanced track, Michiel Kalkman from DigIO, will be delivering a talk.

Topic: Open Policy Agent
Description:
We are going to take a look at policy management in the
Kubernetes ecosystem. Policy is woven through all elements of a
production stack. It is hard to manage, hard to test and is
implemented differently everywhere. This adds complexity, overhead and
drag to any project.

We are going to examine the root cause of this is and fix it by
externalizing all policy decisions using Open Policy Agent (OPA). OPA
is a CNCF project that is a general-purpose policy engine with uses
ranging from authorization and admission control to data filtering.
OPA provides greater flexibility and expressiveness than hard-coded
service logic or ad-hoc domain-specific languages.
