Talk Description:

Installing Kubernetes on AWS using KOPS - Sam Brown

Often getting started is the hardest part!  This presentation will walk you through the basics of standing up a robust Kubernetes cluster on AWS using the Kubernetes Operations (kops) tool.  We will go over the prerequisites for standing up the cluster and the various options that kops provides.  Sam will also work through a live demo of using the tool and connecting to the cluster for the first time.  At the end of this presentation you should have enough information to start your own cluster on AWS.

Let's Write a Helm Chart - Joe Thompson

This talk will introduce the audience to taking standard Kubernetes YAML manifests and transforming them, step-by-step, into flexible, release-upgradeable Helm "charts" which provide advanced template and deployment capabilities.  Focuses on:

• Starting Simple

• Best Practices

• Templating the Right Amount (Not too much, not too little)
