Talk 1: EDS Docker & OpenShift Adoption

Enterprise Decision Service (EDS) is a business rules-based services application, which provides quality and consistent application of business policies for many customer facing applications. To increase business agility and reduce costs, EDS application has adopted OpenShift Container Platform to improve efficiency and time to market. This talk will walk attendees through the transition of EDS to a containerized platform and how Freddie Mac is leveraging the platform today.
Talk 2: Network policy isn't just for networks anymore - App Layer Policy in Calico

1. Deep dive on network policy in Kubernetes, what it does, and how it works in Project Calico
2. Introduction to a Project Calico extension that allows Layer 5-7 rules to be defined as part of network policy, including mTLS authentication. He will cover how this feature works and how it integrates with Istio and Envoy.


Shyam Pulagam - Technical Lead at Freddie Mac
Shyam leads Enterprise Decision Service team which provides rules-based services to the Single Family, Finance, data and Loan Advisor suite of applications. Shyam has worked with Merck, Charles Schwab among others before joining Freddie Mac. Shyam helps solution, design and implement rules based solutions. Shyam is a fast learner, enjoys sports and an avid cricket lover.

Cody McCain, Sr. Solutions Architect @ Tigera
Cody McCain carries the Tigera flag in NYC where he helps customers connect all manner of things to the fabric. Prior to his current role, Cody provided Kubernetes training and implementation services at Apprenda and let Enterprise Architecture at GE Global Research. Cody has served in technology leadership roles across multiple verticals including energy, manufacturing, entertainment, and security. Cody has a B.S. in Physics from Abilene Christian University and is passionate about cloud native software development and distributed computing.
