About this event

After Brian Brazil covered the basics in the last meetup, we will have an open Q&A format this time, where you can grill another Prometheus core developer, Björn Rabenstein.

Björn is a Production Engineer at SoundCloud. Previously, he was a Site Reliability Engineer at Google and a number cruncher for science. He has been a core Prometheus developer since 2013, with a focus on the local storage layer and the Go client library.

Possible topics include Björn's focus areas as mentioned above, experiences from three years of Prometheus usage at SoundCloud, anecdotes from the history of the projects, or really anything you can think of - please come prepared with questions!

We're also pleased to welcome:

Wataru Yukawa, who is travelling all the way from Japan. He will give a lightning talk on how he uses the Nginx and Elasticsearch exporters to monitor his Nginx installation and its logging pipeline.

Tristan Colgate will give a lightning talk on using Prometheus queries to build up time/date information, useful for tasks such as linear regression to end of day/week/month, or differentiating weekdays from weekends for alerts.
