Software Containers have quickly become the latest thing in cloud computing. Containers allow development team to quickly build and deploy light weight, self-contained environments across a cloud. By using light weight containers, the overhead of a full virtual machine can be eliminated but still benefit from segmentation of services within the cloud.
We'll be looking at a few different solutions to handle running containers across both public and private cloud environments including OpenStack's Magnum project, StackIQ's Stacki and Rackspace's Carina.
A wifi accessible OpenStack cloud will be available for those interested in connecting and trying out the environment. Please bring your own wifi equipped laptop with a browser installed (SSH client optional).
