Advanced Network Services in OpenStack: Load-Balancing as a Service (LBaaS)

Cloud Native Silicon Valley

Jul 21, 2016, 1:30 – 3:00 AM

In-person event

About this event

This session is about elastic, multi-tenant, L4-L7 network services in OpenStack. We will particularly discuss Load Balancing as a Service (LBaaS): how it is implemented in OpenStack today and how this evolved over different versions of OpenStack. We will present a distributed and scalable service-VM architecture that underlies the recent reference implementation and also our solution.

We will demo load balancing (LBaaS), high-performance SSL, and real-time application monitoring services in OpenStack. We will also share learnings from production deployments of LBaaS in large-scale private and public OpenStack clouds.

Praveen Yalagandula is the OpenStack Architect at Avi Networks, responsible for designing and developing the integration of Avi Networks’ Cloud Application Delivery Platform with OpenStack infrastructure services. At Avi, Praveen also leads the application performance visibility component of Avi’s solution and has developed a scalable and distributed log analytics system. Prior to Avi, Praveen was a Principal Scientist at HP Labs in Palo Alto, where he spent 8 years exploring several aspects of data center networks, software defined networking, and large-scale distributed systems. Praveen received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin in 2005. He is currently a senior member of IEEE and ACM.

Pizza and drinks will be provided.
