This meetup is in conjunction with the Containers #101 Meetup group.
In this Containers #101 meetup, Robert will provide an overview of container technology and how it relates to OpenStack. Then Alex will provide an engineer's perspective on integration with Docker Registry API. Join us for an evening of free food, drinks, and great conversation!

Title: Docker Images without Docker
Docker is popular not only for its runtime, but also for its image format. Many organizations support Docker images, but don't run Docker, instead relying upon other container technologies. As a result, Apcera implements a Docker Registry API-compatible client to support Docker image pull. And, we have to maintain compatibility not only with the Docker Hub, but also Quay, Docker private registries, and other supported image registries. This talk will delve into the structure of Docker's image format and registry API, as well as enumerate some of the challenges engineers and developers face to support Docker image pull.
