We welcome all of our OpenStack community to come and have some fun with us, and celebrate OpenStack's big 5th birthday. We're going to do something a little different for our regular beginner track #OSSFO meetup. Note: the earlier start time for this week only.
Sean Roberts, David Lenwell and Rama Puranam from Akanda will be putting on the Upstream Game. In this activity the participants will make virtual contributions using Lego bricks as props, with the goal of expanding a Lego town, built by upstream.
We've designed this training program to accelerate the speed at which new OpenStack developers are successful at integrating their own roadmap into that of the OpenStack project. We have taken a slice of the two day OpenStack Upstream Training program and broken out the session dealing with development interaction. This 2 hour live class teaches students to navigate the intricacies of a project's technical teams and social interactions using Legos. It is a lot fun and a great simulation of the way upstream development teams, companies, and individual technical contributors behave and react to milestones.
Be aware that only the first 100 to this event will be able to directly participate. The remaining visitors will be able to watch and interact with ideas and cheer on their fellow Stackers! Lisa, Rick, and Alina from HP will be hosting with food and other fun surprises and giveaways. This will be a great time for everyone that joins us for the evening.
We will be running a 2 hr version of this event. Find the slides here.
Note: We most likely won't have the Google Hangout running because this day will have more interactive games/workshops. So broadcasting will be difficult. BUT - if we do it, rest assured... the link will be posted as a comment here and tweeted out via @hpcloudangel or @sarob 15 minutes before the meetup starts.
Updates will be published via the meetup email list, OpenStack community blog, and twitter via @hpcloudangel, @revansVMware, or @sarob
