About this event

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Welcome to 2017! For our first meetup of the year we have a special treat for you. An OpenStack customer story... and it's a good one! :) The nice folks at GoDaddy have agreed to host our next meetup and talk about their unique use cases. I look forward to seeing you all on the 9th in Sunnyvale!  :) Cheers, Lisa

Agenda:

6:30-7:00 Networking/Snacks
7:00-8:00 Presentation/Demo
8:00-8:30 Q/A & Networking

Abstract:

GoDaddy has been running OpenStack at scale on multiple clusters in its public and private clouds now for several years. In order to achieve that, they have been evolving from running and operating OpenStack in a more traditional style (using rpm packages and puppet) to a modern one using containers/docker via the OpenStack kolla project and ansible. Learn how GoDaddy uses, develops, and operates OpenStack including a discussion on the following topics: their deployment and CI strategies, how they manage the day-to-day operations of OpenStack, and a overview of their design and various architecture tradeoffs they have made (including ones you may *not* want to repeat). They will share their important lessons learned as well as how they participate in the open source community. There will be Q/A at the end for those who want to dive deeper into how this works so you can implement OpenStack at your company.
