For this meetup the topic will be Monasca, (and showing autoscaling with Heat). We will focus on presenting a Monasca overview and use cases, and have a VERY cool technical demo as well! (depending on what's available upstream at this time. :) Thomas Goepel and Dexter Fryar will cover/demo the basics of Monasca (Monitoring-at-scale), and if you want a sneak peak, you can read more here: https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Monasca
About this evening's speaker and demo driver:
Dexter Fryar is a senior engineer working on the HP Helion OpenStack platform. He is currently working on the Monasca (MONaaS) project. His responsibilities include fostering the adoption of the Monasca project by helping others use, deploy, and extend the project. HP Helion and community requirements are supported through our project pages, meetings, and IRC.
Dexter started working with OpenStack in 2011. Prior to the Monasca project Dexter worked on an internal foundation services team implementing metering and billing of OpenStack services with Ceilometer integration and providing a public cloud service at scale. The project included ingesting raw usage data from all OpenStack services and performing data cleansing, storage, and aggregation. Third party platform support for fraud, CRM, and billing providers was an integral part of this effort.
So you can ask Dexter all kinds of questions about all kinds of things. :)
Note - these meetups are the first and third Thursday of the month. (Sorry the calendar has been bouncing around!)
