Application Security Through the Lens of OpenTelemetry
OpenTelemetry isn't just the gold standard for telemetry data and observability - it's also a versatile tool for Application Security!
This talk will share how we leveraged OpenTelemetry traces, extensions, and Collector to improve our open source API Security tool - APIClarity.
In the talk, the following will be presented:
1. OpenTelemetry Collector that was created to transform OpenTelemetry traces to a proprietary trace format.
2. OpenTelemetry extensions that were created to collect request body. Body is required to create security insights on API calls, but is not collected in OpenTelemetry.
3. Enhanced Kong API Gateway security through OpenTelemetry configurations, negating the need for external plugins installation.

Utilizing OpenTelemetry for Database Collection & Enrichment
Opentelemetry information is not always complete and may not provide us the value we want.
We are going to review some of the challenges and solutions through databases visibility use cases.
Including:
* Basic enrichment for spans.
* Extending the Opentelemetry SDKs for instrumentation libraries.
* Building our own Collector.
* The benefits of auto instrumentation.
* Leveraging Opentelemetry to comprehensive solution.
